A PASTOR with the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) Southlea Park Central Assembly Yesterday told his congregants that they are Satanists.
The words came in a wake of a ‘cold war’ that has ensued between members aligned to resident Pastor Johannes Nehanda and visiting Pastor John Maketo.
Maketo yesterday took advantage of Nehanda’s absence and chastised the latter’s sympathisers calling then “Satanists and empty vessels that make the most noise”.
When H-Metro on Sunday arrived at the church, congregants aligned to Nehanda were singing ‘revolutionary’ songs while these aligned to Maketo were attending the service.According to sources, the board running the Southlea Park Central Assembly recommended the transfer of Nehanda against the will of the congregants in order to pave way for Maketo.
“What is happening here in ungodly.Today Pastor Maketo told us (congregants) that we are Satanists because we have been saying they should not transfer pastor Nehanda.
“Maketo has been tipped to take over the administration of the church. He has been saying we are empty vessels that make the most noise simply because we do not want to endorse their resolution to transfer our pastor. He was just supposed to be a visiting pastor during the 10 days of fasting, but he has been trying to bulldoze his way into office.Anongouya achitituka, hapana kana shoko raanoparidza.
“Maketo was questioning why we want to remain with Nehanda and we have been saying our pastor is a humble man,he does not preach about prosperity like what others do.He has been with us through thick and thin,”said Barbara Machokoto.
Disgruntled church member told H-Metro that since late December church services have been characterised by disturbances with Maketo telling congregants that he is a former police officer who is ready to deal with rowdy elements.
In the fracas is the church board’s committee member Marshall Muyambo who yesterday told a fellow congregant identified as Mrs Mwase that she is a prostitute.
“This is a new phenomenon in the church. It has never happened.Muyambo has a court case at Mbare magistrates’ court in which he s charged of assaulting Barbara (Machokto) and today (yesterday) in church ati kuna Mai Mwase muri hure.
“He further told her to report the matter to the police if she had the guts,”said Stanley Mutero.
Asked for comment,Muyambo said he did not have time to lend an ear to people who are being used by the devil and whose minds are no longer godly.
