England’s cricketers will bag over £1m if they beat West Indies at Eden Gardens on Sunday and become World Twenty20 champions.
The prize money would represent a handy top-up to their annual earnings, especially as only five members of this England squad – Eoin Morgan, Moeen Ali, Jos Buttler, Joe Root and Ben Stokes – are on full ECB central contracts.![]() |

The win bonus, which would come from the coffers of the International Cricket Council, the tournament organisers, and not from the ECB, is understood not to have been a topic of discussion in the dressing-room ahead of Sunday’s final, where England hope to become the first team to win the World Twenty20 twice.
Even defeat would come with a little consolation: the runners-up at Eden Gardens will take home around £565,000.
