Quail Breeding In Zimbabwe

Quail breeding has fast gained popularity in Zimbabwe with large numbers of people undergoing training in rearing the birds.

A workshop held in Harare to train people on how to rear the birds saw an overwhelming turnout.

"Public response has been overwhelming with many looking to rearing quails as a source of livelihood since it requires low capital to start up," poultry specialist, Anesu Kwaramba said.

Prospective poultry breeders who attended the training said quail breeding has generated interest in the activity since it can provide cheaper means of earning income.

 Quail Breeding In Zimbabwe

Quail meat is reported to have medicinal properties and researchers say it can strengthen the immune system, treat nervous diseases, infertility, gastro intestinal tract disorders, liver, renal, blood pressure and circulatory diseases, as well as metabollic diseases such as gout and diabetes.

In the book of Exodus in the Bible, God provided quail birds to the Israelites while in the wilderness as a source of meat.
