Veteran John Terry’s glittering Chelsea career came to the worst possible end this afternoon as the defender ruled himself out of the club’s final two matches of the season by getting sent off against Sunderland.
The veteran is out of contract at the end of the season and he’s been told that his existing deal will not be extended. The former England captain has won four Premier League trophies with the Blues and is the most decorated skipper in their history.
However, an inexplicable red card today – for two yellows – in the side’s 3-2 defeat to Sunderland has ruled him out of the club’s final two fixtures.
It means the 35-year-old has ruled himself out of his own farewell and Chelsea fans took to Twitter to demand that the club extend his deal for one more season.

Cahil gets a new deal, Ivanovic gets a one year extension, but not Terry. Its time Chelsea fans realise who the real culprit is. #ME #CFC— MANI (@1mransiddique) May 7, 2016
