“I can’t believe I am finally free I have been at the Chikurubi Maximum Prison for 14 years now and I was left with six more years.”
These were the sentiments of Trymore Manhaka, 28, who had been sentenced to 18 years for stock theft in Rushinga. He was locked up when he was 16 years old and has spent most of his youth in prison.
Manhanga was spared a six-year period in jail courtesy of the Presidential pardon.
“None of my relatives used to come to visit me anymore and it was a painful experience.
“I have learnt a lot, and now that I am an adult I will go and resort to farming then start my own family,” said Manhanga.
