A number of informal traders operating from Harare’s central business district were on Friday night left counting their losses after the city council razed their tuckshops.
An owner of a cellphone shop hopes to recovers some of his wares that were destroyed in the demolitions.

The affected traders were operating along Robert Mugabe Way near the Eastgate Mall.
According to some of the affected people who were still trying to recover some of their wares, council employees descended on the area at around 5 PM as most of them were winding up their business for the day.

The traders were accused of erecting illegal structures and were not given any chance to move their wares before a bulldozer was used to bring them down.
