PICS: Car torn in half in KZN accident

Durban - Five people were injured when a car was torn in half in an accident on the N2 at Umhlali on Thursday night.

IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Paul Herbst said a car had been stationary when it was rear-ended by a delivery vehicle.

“The mechanism of impact was so serve it tore the vehicle in half. People were ejected from the wreckage and found 30m down an embankment,” he said.

Herbst added that five people, with injuries ranging from moderate to critical, were later rushed to hospital.
