Riot police teargassed protestors in central Harare after a successful demonstration against President Robert Mugabe’s government over 90 percent unemployment and the planned introduction of bond notes in Zimbabwe.
What started off as a peaceful demonstration by unemployed graduates and other disgruntled citizens was later disrupted by the police who were armed with teargas, water cannons, baton sticks and guns. |

There are also reports and pictures confirming how the police assaulted a journalist and tried to smash his camera in what was seen as an attempt to stop the broadcast of videos exposing police brutality during the protests.
