Barcelona have revealed that Lionel Messi will "lighten his training load" after suffering a hamstring injury while on international duty with Argentina.
The 29-year-old, who recently reversed his decision to retire from international football, aggravated the problem during Argentina's 1-0 win over Uruguay last week.Messi has already been ruled out of this week's 2018 World Cup qualifier against Venezuela on Wednesday, and now he is in danger of being absent for Saturday's game against Alaves.
A statement from the Catalan giants read: "Tests conducted today on Leo Messi have confirmed that they player is still having trouble with the adductor muscle in his left hamstring. He has been recommended to lighten his training load over the next few days and his availability will depend on how the issue progresses."
Messi has scored two goals for Barca so far this season.
