Now, it’s the turn of his 18-year-old daughter, Nqobile Mzelemu, to expose her unhelpful father. Nqobile, who lives in Marhwaqa, Port Shepstone, bears a remarkable resemblance to the 37-year-old singer.
But his eldest daughter, currently in Grade 11, is not impressed by her celebrity dad.
“My father is a gospel star. A role model who blesses people with extravagant cars,” she says, referring to the R2-million Mercedes-Benz he infamously bought for a pastor friend in September last year. “He donates to the poor, but he is neglecting me.”
She tells us she has tried to reach out to the Kulungile Baba star but her attempts have failed. As she tells her story, her equally upset mother, Nelisiwe Mzelemu, sits close by. “My father is available to everyone out there except me,” she sobs. “He’s an absent father.
I have a lot of unanswered questions. I tried to reach out to him but he simply ignores me. “I say this because he doesn’t even call me on my birthday. This year in May, I turned 18 and it was a big deal for me. I sent him reminders as early as February, but he never bothered to call.
I received no birthday presents whatsoever and that really hurt me.” She says she and Nelisiwe live in poverty. Read more in 4 August issue of DRUM
