Zimbabwe People First interim leader Joyce Mujuru has been expelled from the party with immediate effect.
Earlier during the day, in a press statement bearing ZimPF symbols, Mujuru said she has taken the drastic move “against elements determined to stall the progress that the party has been making.” She expelled seven founding members which included Didymus Mutasa, Rugare Gumbo, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti, Margaret Dongo, Munacho Mutezo, Rtd Colonel Claudious Makova and Luckson Kandemiri.
However, at a press conference held in Harare, fired Zimbabwe People First members, retaliated and fired party leader, Joice Mujuru claiming that she expelled herself from the party and that she has no authority to fire the elders.
Rtd Colonel Claudious Makova said that there was no direction in ZimPF under Mujuru’s leadership while Didymus Mutasa said that Mujuru is not a leader and that they are fed up with her dictatorial tendencies. At the press conference they referred to Mujuru as the “former interim leader,” stating that the party is bigger than the individual.
We will update you with more information as soon as it comes through.
