Reports from Zimbabwe say a Chinese contractor has stopped work on a mansion being built for Robert Mugabe’s eldest daughter, Bona.
Work on the property in eastern Harare appears to have stalled in the wake of her father’s fall from power. The private NewsDay says work on Bona Mugabe's mansion began on a grand scale in May.
The paper published a picture of the building site. It shows massive earthworks on what was previously a wooded hillside in Harare’s picturesque Umwinsidale suburb.
A worker at the site told the paper that earth-moving equipment was removed from the area in the wake of Robert Mugabe’s fall from power in November.
The area remains under police guard, although it’s unclear if and when construction work will resume.
