United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Republican Nikki Haley, on Friday, June 1, 2018, conducted for the first time an unprecedented charge against the regime of President Biya in the context of the Anglophone crisis in Cameroon.
In a string of accusations, she called on the Cameroonian authorities to immediately stop repressing civilian populations, respect human rights, freedom of expression and, above all, conduct “credible investigations” into allegations of massacres of civilians in the south-west and north-west of the country.
The representative of the United States also demanded the release of the detainees. Last year, when the American diplomat was questioned about the situation in Cameroon by our colleague Matthew R. Lee of ‘Inner City Press’, she said she had no information about this country and almost ran away from the questions.

The Americans would intervene in Yaoundé to gain a foothold if the conflict continues, perhaps without requiring the approval of France, dominant power in this country of French-speaking Africa, which is, at least officially, in radio silence mode.
