Amakhosi's coach is certainly a fan of the former Masandawana star following his exploits over the weekend. Kaizer Chiefs mentor Giovanni Solinas has hailed the ability of new signing Khama Billiat.
The Zimbabwe international shocked many when he opted to move to Naturena from Mamelodi Sundowns, after deciding against signing a new contract.
The 27-year-old though, looks to have carried that same hunger and desire into his tenure at his new club and he has already gained an admirer in Amakhosi’s head coach.
Solinas, who was only recently appointed as coach of Chiefs recorded his first win with the Soweto giants in the MTN8 against Free State Stars over the weekend, thanks in part to a stellar showing by Billiat.
This led to Solinas singling out Billiat’s ability, even suggesting that the former Ajax Cape Town star has all the attributes to succeed on an even bigger stage.
“For me he is an amazing player,” Solinas was quoted as saying by The Star.
Giovanni Solinas: It’s A Privilege To Be Coaching Khama Billiat at Kaizer Chiefs |
On signing for Chiefs, Billiat reunited with a former teammate of his in Leonardo Castro. The Colombian alongside Billiat formed a lethal partnership at the Tshwane giants and the signs are there that the partnership could once again be reborn.
“It’s a privilege for me to be coaching Billiat, and (Leonardo) Castro together,” Solinas said.
“It’s an honour. This player makes the difference,” Solinas said.
“I am very happy that I have this player in my squad, and I am glad I was asked the question so that I can talk about him,” Solinas expressed.
The Italian tactician will now hope that Billiat will continue to be influential for Chiefs as next up is a tricky clash against Baroka on Tuesday.
