The flagbearer of the Now Movement, Barrister Akere Muna, has backed-out of the 2018 October 7 Presidential race, and has now joined forces with Professor Maurice Kamto of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement(CRM) to topple Biya.
Barrister Akere Muna has called on all other opposition leaders to throw their weight behind Maurice Kamto in order to defeat the incumbent President Paul Biya.
“I know only an alliance of the principal contenders can give hope to our people who have been clamouring for change… the absence of a coalition can only help to maintain Paul Biya in power,” Akere stated.
The decision to withdraw from the Presidential race by Akere Muna is contained in a press release signed by the Spokesperson of the party, Paul B. Mawel, today Friday, October 5, 2018.

It should be noted that there have been numerous calls from Cameroonians for an opposition coalition among the opposition parties in order to defeat Biya, who have ruled Cameroon for 36 years.
The widespread calls for an opposition coalition has partially yielded fruits hours to the October 7 poll.
It is highly anticipated that before the end of the presidential campaigns tomorrow, Saturday October 6, 2018, the other opposition political parties may unite again.
