The National President of the Cameroon People’s Party(CPP) Edith Kahbang Walla has urged Cameroonians not to vote incumbent President Paul Biya on October 7.
Talking to the Press on Thursday, October 4, 2018, in the nation’s economic capital, Douala, the CPP National President said Cameroonians should get rid of Biya, who has been in power for close to four decades.
She added that Cameroonians should vote any of the eight other candidates except Biya. Also, the leader of the CPP said the time has come for a political transition and Biya must leave power.
She said although she is not taking part in the October 7 poll, she is encouraging all Cameroonians to carry on with their civic responsibility by voting on Sunday, October 7 and defending their votes.

When questioned on the CPP preferred candidate for October 7, the CPP National President said: “We are not supporting any particular candidate. We as a political party that has chosen not to participate in this election”.
She said the reason for her party not participating in the upcoming election is because the party sympathises with the people of the Anglophone Regions and the people of the Far North Region.
“We are not participating for this election for two reasons namely; poor electoral system and in solidarity with the population of the North West and South West and Extreme North Regions, who are living under violence and people will not be able to fully participate in the election”, she reiterated.
Edith Kah Walla maintained that she is the National President of the Cameroon People’s Party, condemning the decision of the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, who had appointed another leader for the CPP.
