The leader of the country’s opposition party MRC, renowned legal heavyweight and former justice minister has declared himself winner of the October 7th presidential polls.
Professor Maurice kamto of the MRC who went into a midnight alliance with fellow legal heavyweight barrister Akeree Muna before the polls announced his victory today October 8th in his party’s headquarters in Yaoundé.
His announcement which come barely 24 hours after polls were closed is illegal according to the laws governing elections in the country

However, in the announcement in the nation’s political capital, the legal juggernaut calls for the incumbent president Paul Biya to ensure a peaceful transition and assures his safety and security alongside his family as he surprisingly claims victory in polls were counting is still ongoing
The ruling CPDM is yet to comment on the opposition move but there have been widespread reports on social media that the opposition leader has been leading in many polling stations across the country
The country’s interior minister Paul Atanga Nji had earlier warned of any attempts to protest the elections results which doesn’t fall in line with the rules.
