Over the weekend, the government made spirited attempts to stop opposition leader from attending all functions related to the late music icon Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi.
The government was only half successful as it only managed to bar Chamisa from attending the Tuku tribute concert at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday. However, on Sunday, revolted mourners broke down a gate to allow Chamisa entry to Mtukudzi’s rural home after soldiers and police had tried to block him again.

The question many have been asking is why a whole government saw it fit and prudent to embarrass itself by trying to block Chamisa.
