Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa yesterday confronted Minister of Defence Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri and blasted her for her apparent hypocrisy after government officials ordered the police and security services not to let Chamisa into Oliver Mtukudzi’s rural homestead in Madziva.
Chamisa only managed to gain entry after other mourners broke down the gate after they were disgusted by the actions of the security services. However, that was not the end of it. The authorities then refused to allow Chamisa to seat in the VIP tent with other dignitaries. The opposition leader brushed it off and calmly followed proceedings with the rest of the mourners.

Zimlive reports that Muchinguri-Kashiri was heard accusing Chamisa of “trying to steal the limelight”. Chamisa shot back saying, “This is a funeral, there’s no light at a funeral.”
The MDC leader then reminded Muchinguri-Kashiri that when MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai died in February 2018, the Zanu PF chairperson had arrived at the funeral in Buhera by helicopter, and had been given time to speak even as MDC supporters objected.
