Reigning Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi, took to social media to raise awareness on the staggering number of gender-based violence (GBV) cases reported in South Africa during the national lockdown.
On Saturday, 4 April 2020, South African beauty queen, Zozibini Tunzi, took to Twitter to express shock and dismay at the staggering number of GBV cases that have been reported in her home country since the start of the national lockdown.

In her tweet, she stated that over 87 000 cases were reported in the first week of the 21-day lockdown. Zozibini was evidently disheartened by the statistics, particularly as the world is currently fighting the COVID-19 outbreak.
