President Emmerson Mnangagwa has extended the country’s national lockdown by two more weeks, with other sectors now relaxed.
Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe is on level 2 of the lockdown which will see industries, the mining sector, retail shops opening but with restrictions.
President Mnangagwa said the extension and relaxation of some sectors is a fine balance between preserving people’s lives and trying to sustain the country’s economy which has suffered a slump, due to the abrupt lockdown which meant there was neither production nor generation of income.

All people should wear masks, outside their homes. This includes homemade masks as well.

Industry and commerce to reopen, however, employers must be subjected to mandatory, rapid testing of Covid-19. Sanitization and social distancing must be observed.
Business Operating hours must be from 8 am to 3pm.
The informal business sector should remain closed, with the exception of food supply shops and agricultural products shops.
Only buses are allowed to operate but observing social distancing, sanitization and people must wear masks and be subjected to temperature tests.
Kombis and pirate taxis are not allowed to operate.
Returnees to Zimbabwe from beyond the borders or abroad must be subject to 21-day mandatory quarantine and full Covid-19 testing on day 1, day 8 and day 21.
Churches to remain closed.
Gyms and recreational facilities to remain closed.
Bars and bottle stores to remain closed.
All schools and tertiary institutions shall remain closed, the government will advise on the opening dates.
Zimbabwe has 40 reported cases of Covid-19, 4 deaths and 5 recoveries.
