A Miss South Africa 2020 applicant must be at least 20 years old and be under 28 years of age as of 1 August 2020. This means that an applicant can turn 28 within the year of her reign (starting August 2020).
She must be a South African citizen and in possession of a valid South African ID document or passport. If an applicant holds dual citizenship, she must provide full details of both.
The applicant is not required to currently be in possession of a valid driver’s license. However, in the event that the applicant makes it through as a finalist, she may be expected to have taken steps to attain her driver’s license by the time of the final pageant event (August 2020) due to sponsor requirements.
The applicant must be in possession of a matric certificate or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification. (In the event that the applicant makes it through as a semi-finalist she will be required to provide proof of this qualification). The applicant is encouraged to provide the organisation with details of any further tertiary qualifications, proof of which will be required should the applicant make it through as a semi-finalist.
The applicant shall not ever have been married (civil nor customary), nor had a marriage annulled.
Miss South Africa titleholders are also required to remain unmarried throughout their reign. It is accepted that while an applicant may be in a committed relationship or engaged, they must adhere to the rule of not getting married during the Miss South Africa pre-competition process or during the year of reign.
The applicant cannot be pregnant, have given birth to or parented a child and not be the legal guardian of any minor.
No Miss South Africa titleholders can re-enter. However, an applicant can enter again if she has been a semi-finalist or finalist.
The applicant should have no criminal record and be truthful in respect of all matters in relation to the run-up to the competition, the competition itself and the period after the competition. There is no restriction in terms of tattoos or piercings that the applicant may have.
In the event that any false or misleading information of whatsoever kind is submitted by the applicant, the Miss South Africa Organisation may, in its sole discretion, take any action that it deems appropriate, including without limitation, disqualification from participating in the Miss South Africa pageant, and/or termination of reign as a titleholder or as Miss South Africa 2020, as applicable.

Should you be selected as a Miss South Africa 2020 semi-finalist you will be required to ensure your availability for judging at the beginning of June 2020 (first two weeks in June). Format and details will be shared by the Miss South Africa Organisation.
Should you be selected as a Miss South Africa 2020 finalist you will be required to ensure your availability to the Miss South Africa Organisation for June, July and August 2020. Format and details will be shared by the Miss South Africa Organisation.
The Miss South Africa 2020 pageant finale will take place in August 2020. Final date to be confirmed.
The winner of the Miss South Africa 2020 pageant will be contracted to the Miss South Africa Organisation as an employee thereof for her full-year reign. Following the completion of her reign, she will be required to assist with up to 12 appearances.
Applicants placing in the Top 3 of the competition hereby agree to be contracted to the Miss South Africa Organisation for the year following the pageant event.
No direct family member of the Miss South Africa Organisation or related companies, sponsors, production companies, advertising agencies and suppliers who are associated with the Miss South Africa 2020 competition will be permitted to enter. Take me to the FAQs
