Basetsana Kumalo Struts To The Song That Played When She Walked The Miss SA Runway in 1994!

In a recent throwback Instagram post, Basetsana Kumalo took the country back to the joyful moment she was crowned Miss South Africa in 1994.

Basetsana's pageant journey began when she crowned Miss Soweto at the age of 16. Although she had planned to study education, at 20 years old, Basetsana was crowned Miss South Africa 1994 and her life took a different path.

Throughout her reign, the confident and intelligent university student shattered glass ceilings and served as an icon of racial progress, as well as a role model for South African women of colour.

In an upbeat post, the former Miss South Africa shared a video of herself strutting down a corridor to Oleta Adams' Window of Hope.

In the post, Basetana said that the song played during the swimwear category of the Miss South Africa 1994 pageant when she walked down the runway,

"Gave my fam a show this afternoon to much delight," she wrote.

The 1994 Miss South Africa pageant was memorable for coinciding with the country's first democratic elections. Basetsana was the second black titleholder after Jacqui Mofokeng paved the way for black beauty queens the year before.
