Lady Zamar has taken to social media to praise Mzansi men who do not abuse women. She also gave a shout-out to men who lend their voices towards the fight against gender-based violence (GBV).
The musician is currently embroiled in a legal case against her ex-boyfriend Sjava, who she accuses of mistreating her. Sjava denied the allegations.
Taking to Twitter, Lady Zamar posted: "Massive thanks to every man who has never laid a finger on a woman, threatened her, beat her or in anyway abused a woman. Big thanks to all the men who fight alongside women to stop gender-based violence, protecting their wives, daughters, sisters, friends, aunts, moms, cousins."
Social media users were not too sure how to respond to her post. Many felt that these men should not be thanked for doing what they were expected to do. Twitter user Nomcebo53011774 said:
"They don’t deserve a 'thanks' from us, they’re doing what they’re supposed to do."
Mackenslin said: "Why must we give thanks to man for doing something they should always be doing?"
DreSiwela said: "We, as men, should ALWAYS be respectful without the expectation of a thank you."
Limanye8 said: "I was raised by a very strong woman, I will never lay a hand on a woman..."
VillageAttorney said: "Applauding a fish for swimming..."
Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za previously reported The SABC has spoken out against claims that they axed Sjava, real name Jabulani Hadebe, from the popular SABC1 soapie Uzalo.
The media personality was reported to have joined the stellar cast of the show but claims were later made that he was fired. Reports alleged that Sjava's contract was terminated due to Lady Zamar's ongoing court case against him.
TshisaLive has reported that acting SABC spokesperson Mmoni Seapolelo has refuted the claims that the musician was fired. According to Seapolelo, Sjava's contract was for a limited time.
