In a heartbreaking development, a 19-year-old girl was raped on numerous occasions after she believed a fake prophet message from a bogus prophet.
A 19-year-old Harare woman (name withheld to protect her identity) was raped several times by a 33-year-old man between January and February this year after believing a purported prophetic message from a self-proclaimed prophet.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the development on their official Twitter account saying;

According to the police report, the prophet told the woman that he had seen a vision of his would-be husband, but the man later turned out to be a rapist.
After the harrowing ordeal, the woman decided to inform the “prophet” that she had been raped by the man whom he had said was her “future husband”.
The self-proclaimed seer however allegedly did not report the case, he concealed the crime.
“The spiritualist concealed the offense when it was reported to him by the victim,”said the police.
Meanwhile, the ZRP police have urged members of the public not to be too trusting and to be wary of self-proclaimed prophets.
“The ZRP encourages members of the public to report all cases of sexual abuse promptly and avoid trusting strange prophetic utterances from pastors and prophets,” reads the statement.
