BULAWAYO - Dancehall musician Felix Debwe better known in music circles as Centre Party has been caught in a storm following revelations that he dumped his wife and three children to allegedly cohabit with his mistress.
The stunning disclosure came out last week after the musician applied for a maintenance variation at the Tredgold Magistrates’ Courts here.
According to court papers, the Mhando Yepamusoro hit maker
accused his wife of many years Olley Mabanga of misusing the little $170 monthly allowance he is paying for the upkeep of his children.
“Mabanga is not buying food for my children when I pay maintenance on 6th of each month when the date gets to 15 there will be already complaints of children starving and borrowing from neighbours,” Centre Party said.
“I ended up hiring a maid to stay with my kids because she is not always at home, he said before requesting the court to reduce the allowance to at least $80 per month or to allow him to buy groceries for the kids instead.
However, he walked out of the court a disappointed man after the court dismissed his application.
Speaking to the Daily News after their court battle Mabanga had no kind words for her estranged husband saying he was a womanise and that was the reason he walked out of his matrimonial house was to stay with one of his girlfriends.
“CP is just an irresponsible man. He is a miniskirt chaser,” Mabanga said.
“I loved this man with all my heart that is why I had three kids with him but still he could not stay indoors. It was like trying to domesticate a lion. To prove how irresponsible he is, he is failing even to look after his own blood and he wants the maintenance reduced,” she said.
“He goes on to lie to the court that I am misusing the money yet every time he comes demanding the receipts of everything that I buy with his money.
“I cannot be that stupid. He feels the pain of looking after his own kids but spends a lot on girlfriends.”
Mabanga said on several occasions she fought with Centre Party’s girlfriends adding that he is currently staying in Queens Park suburb with a named mistress.
“He runs businesses in town and had it not been for women, he could be one of the most successful business people in town,” Mabanga claimed.
Besides music, Centre Party used to be a director at the now defunct supermarket chain Buscod.
Efforts to get a comment from Centre Party were fruitless as he was not reachable on his mobile.
Centre Party who also owns a music recording studio which records local hip-hop and dancehall musicians, is one of the longest serving musicians in the city
