A 20 YEAR-OLD bus conductor has appeared in court, facing charges of raping a six year old girl on March 30 this year.
Shadreck Zviripayi, who is employed as a conductor at Wadawarova transport, pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared before Harare magistrate, Tendai Mahwe.
Zviripayi was remanded in custody to 28 April pending trial.
It is the state’s case that on 30 March this year, Zviripayi, who was driving on that day, offered the minor a lift along Chiremba Road in Harare.
He allegedly drove to an unknown house where he dragged the girl inside and had anal sex with her.
It is further alleged that after conducting the crime, Zviripayi drove the girl and dropped her at a certain area along the same road from where he had picked her.
According to the state, the girl did not reveal the incident to anyone until she developed some wounds around the anal area.
The girl’s parents quizzed her until she disclosed what had happened and the matter was reported to the police leading to investigations and arrest of the accused over the weekend.
