Ronda Rousey always said that she’d keep a low-profile after her fight with Holly Holm, but not many people thought she’d be doing it following a loss.
But she is, and for the first time since the fight, Rousey talked about her feelings following her first career loss to Holm as part of her cover story for ESPN The Magazine.
Rousey said that Holm’s kick to her face — the shot that ultimately ended the fight — was so hard that it’ll take her “three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact.” She said it’s been tough accepting that she won’t end her career undefeated, that some of her injuries are still healing, and (rather coarsely) described her feelings: “I’m really [expletive] sad.”
But Ronda shouldn’t feel all bad. Dana White thinks Rousey’s profile has actually been raised following her loss, and besides, it won’t take her long to book her rematch, so at least she’ll have a chance at a glorious comeback.
