Los Angeles based Heir Hunters International explained to Mirror Celeb: ‘In researching Prince’s family tree, Heir Hunters International traced the family of Prince’s Half blood brother, Duane Joseph Nelson, who died in March of 2011.
‘Duane Joseph Nelson fathered a son, Duane “Casper” Joseph Nelson Jr. who predeceased his father, dying unexpectedly in December of 2005 at the age of 26.
‘At the time of his death, Duane “Casper” Joseph Nelson, left as his only heir, his daughter, Victoria, who is under the age of 18 and under the laws of Minnesota a legal minor. Victoria is the grand-niece of Prince.
“As the only surviving direct decedent of Prince’s half blood brother, Victoria inherits her grandfather’s share of Prince’s estate, which translates into a one-seventh share.”
Talking to the MailOnline, Victoria’s grandmother and widow of Duane Nelson Sr, Elberta Butler, 59, said: ‘I’m very surprised about all of this, everything, it’s going to take us a few days to digest it.’
When told her granddaughter stands to inherit $42 million, Mrs Butler, who has remarried since her husband’s death, said: ‘Oh yeah, I understand that.
‘I’m her grandmother, Victoria is my son’s only child and my son has passed.
‘She’s not over 18, she’s a minor. I need to think about this.’
It comes after Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson, said she did not believe her brother had a left a will before his unexpected death.
Tyka Nelson filed documents at the Carver County District Court in Minnesota where she declares no knowledge of ‘the existence of a will’ or any other next of kin.
