The government has launched a full-scale attack on western media which is eerily familiar to what happened under former Information Minister Jonathan Moyo when all foreign journalists were expelled from Zimbabwe in the early 2000s.
The government has accused the foreign media of manufacturing news in the country after they highlighted alleged abuses being committed by the military on civilians as revenge for protesting. British broadcasters SkyNews and ITV have also shown videos highlighting the abuses which have gone viral.
We have checked our records and we have not cleared anyone from Sky for accreditation…Their report was not balanced because they did not give the police or army a chance to respond – that is if they were in the country at all.
When then we enforce our law against them some people will start crying foul claiming that we are being vindictive because of their reportage when in fact we are only asking for them to respect our law.
