Father and daughter - a special bond between two people. Dumisani Dlamini’s daughter has shared that she apparently has never met her dad.
Dlamini responded to his daughter’s accusation, saying that he has tried getting in touch with her for many years. The can of worms was opened when US musician, Doja Cat had a chat with Whoopi Goldberg, in which she commented that she has never met her father, Dumisani Dlamini.
Briefly.co.za saw what a buzz social media was with a clip of the conversation been viewed by many. During the conversation, Doja states that her father played alongside Whoopi in Sarafina. This came as a shock to Whoopi and she was clearly saddened when Doja pointed out that the veteran actress had met her and dad but she has not.
Whoopi’s response to this was that Dlamini is a good man.
Dlamini had the opportunity to give his side of the story in a discussion with Mo Flava from Metro FM. He explained that he had been looking for his daughter and that Americans are very good at causing a stir in order for her to stay in the media and get people around the world taking.
He went on to say that Doja’s management had put a stumbling block in the way by blocking his efforts to reach his daughter. Dlamini described how the search of his baby girl was hindered by the company in charge of running her entertainment.
The reason for this, Dlamini believes, is that they fear to lose her. He says if he was able to make contact with his daughter, there is the possibility she would disappear from their picture. Dlamini says that he knows his daughter and wherever she is, she is looking for her dad.
Further, into the conversation, Dlamini did state that his daughter had in actual fact spoken to him prior to her becoming famous. He feels that perhaps her claims to Whoopi could have been a made-up thing in order to grab the world’s attention and especially those in South Africa because that is the country her dad lives in.
In an interview with TshaLIVE three years ago, Dlamini confirmed that he had decided to stay in America after his Sarafina tour. He had fallen in love with a Jewish-American lady and had two children with her, one of whom is Doja Cat. After 15 years of living in America, Dlamini got homesick and planned to bring his family back to South Africa.
Things did not go as planned but he says he had a close relationship with all of his children; he loves them and they love him!
