Chinese deputy ambassador to Zimbabwe, Zhao Baogang has thrown major shade at the United Kingdom, amid revelations that more Zimbabweans have died of Covid-19 in their country.
According to the latest reports from the government, about 29 Zimbabwean nationals have succumbed to COVID-19 in the UK, with most of them being frontline health workers.
The deputy ambassador then took a dig at the UK on his Twitter account in a tweet which has since been deleted
No Zimbabweans died in China due to COVID- 19. We take good care of them. 29 Zimbabweans die of Covid-19 in the UK.
The ambassador’s remark was meant in reference to the fact that no Zimbabweans were reported to have died in China, where the virus first broke out.
This UK has been considered a Covid-19 hotspot.
The pandemic has killed 18 738 in the United Kingdom so far.

His remarks also follow after China donated a consignment of medical supplies and equipment to Zimbabwe, on Thursday.
The donations were handed over to President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the statehouse by the Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Guo Shaochun during an official ceremony at the State House.
China pledged to help Zimbabwe fight Covid-19.
The ambassador lauded Zimbabwe for it’s unwavering support to China when they first experienced the outbreak of the pandemic.
China will not forget how Zimbabwe was among the first to give us confidence and support in the hard days of our own struggle against the virus,.
China has also been battling reports of racism and xenophobia after footages of black people being kicked out of apartments and barred from some restaurants emerged.
The country has strongly denied the reports.
