Henrietta Rushwaya Arrested At Airport After Being Busted With 6kg Of Gold

Zimbabwe Miners Federation President Henrietta Rushwaya has been arrested at the airport.

According to police reports, Rushwaya was arrested when the airport scanners indicated that her hand luggage contained suspicious objects.

The ZRP confirms the arrest of Henrietta Rushwaya at RGM International Airport this afternoon after scanners at the airport checkpoint indicated that there was something in her hand luggage.

As a result, searches revealed that the suspect had 6,09kgs of gold which had not been legally and properly cleared with Customs and relevant offices for export. This is a suspected smuggling case and Police are now conducting investigations

Further reports from independent sources indicate that Henrietta Rushwaya was headed for Dubai at the time of her arrest.

Henrietta Rushwaya who used to be president of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is not new to arrests.

A few years ago she was arrested in connection with a match-fixing scandal, amid claims that ZIFA had busted a cartel that allegedly intended to fix, among other matches, the 2017 Nations Cup qualifiers between Zimbabwe and Swaziland.

She was fingered heavily in the Asiagate Report produced by Zifa as the mastermind behind the match-fixing scandal.

Rushwaya denied the charges saying she was working undercover to try and nail the match-fixing cartel after she promised investigators working for FIFA that she would bring the culprits to book.

Last year Henrietta Rushwaya was fingered by the Zanu PF youths, as one of the most corrupt individuals it the country.

She threatened to take legal action against the youths for tarnishing her reputation.

Rushwaya is yet to give a statement on her latest arrest.
