Retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather announced on Sunday that he will be returning to the boxing ring in an exhibition bout against YouTuber Logan Paul.
The match is scheduled for 21 February 2021 and will be broadcast on Fanmio on a pay-per-view basis.
According to the match’s website, the first one million fans can get access to watch the match for $24.99. The fee will increase to $39.99 when the one million marks are reached. On December 29, the price jumps to $59.99 and then to $69.99 on February 11.
The announcement that Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather will square off in the ring, comes a week after Paul’s brother Jake Paul, knocked out former NBA player Nate Robinson.
Since this is only an exhibition match, there will be no title on the line except for bragging rights to whoever comes out victorious.
This is not the first time Logan Paul has been in the boxing ring.
Previously he fought British YouTuber, internet personality, boxer, and rapper KSI in an amateur white-collar boxing match. Their first bout ended in a stalemate after it ended in a majority draw. However, the subsequent rematch was classified as a professional bout in which Paul was making his professional boxing debut. Following another split decision, Paul lost the match to KSI.
Mayweather on the other hand is undefeated in his boxing career with a record of 50-0. He retired in 2017 after registering a victory against Conor McGregor. Apart from the victory, Mayweather had a million reasons to smile after Forbes estimated that the fight generated more than $550 million in revenue.
Mayweather reportedly earned a reported $275 million, a sum generated both from his roles as a fighter and also a promoter.
