Zimbabwe Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s estranged wife, Marry Mubaiwa’s right hand is set to be amputated.
Marry is reported to be in critical condition in hospital after doctors admitted her. According to her lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa, her right hand is set to be amputated due to severe sepsis and doctors have recommended an amputation above the elbow.
She is said to be battling lymphoedema, a condition caused by a blockage in the lymphatic system, part of the immune and circulatory systems. The condition has left her arms and legs badly swollen with “wart-like” growth and extensive scarring.
Breaking News - Marry Mubaiwa’s Right Hand To Be Amputated! |
Recommendation: Right High Above Elbow Amputation:
I had the pleasure of assessing Marry Mubaiwa on behalf of my senior colleague Mr Mthethwa. She is 5 weeks post revision surgery for a right humerus shaft re-fracture.Her current condition is critical (life-threatening) and has necessitated hospitalization and stabilisation with a plan for emergent right high above elbow amputation as soon as she is deemed medically stable.
She has severe sepsis secondary to deep infection after revision surgery to fix a re-fracture of right humerus shaft against a background of chronic sepsis in her forearm.
Careful in-patient clinical management of her current state is required, and a multi-disciplinary team is in attendance.
The letter was signed by Dr John S Nyahunzvi, a Specialist Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon. It was also verified remotely by Mr Jabu Mthethwa, Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon

Marry Mubaiwa collapsed at the courts yesterday, one of many occasions where she has collapsed while on trial.
The former model who is facing several criminal charges has been denied permission to seek medical treatment outside the country despite the serious illness.
Marry has been arrested several times and is facing attempted murder charges. This is after Vice President Constantino Chiwenga alleged that Marry tried to kill him while he lay incapacitated in a hospital in South Africa.
The 39-year-old is also facing charges of money laundering and externalizing foreign currency as well as fraud and misrepresentation over claims she secretly planned to upgrade her marriage without Chiwenga’s knowledge and consent.
