Flamboyant and charismatic Prophet cum Preacher of the United Family International Church (UFIC) Emmanuel Makandiwa splashed a whopping $10 000 dollars on the President's Daughter, Bona Mugabe. The money was a gift for Bona Muabe's bridal party.
The ceremony was held last Saturday at First lady Grace's sprawling Iron Mask Farm in Mazowe.
Prophet Makandiwa, according to sources who attended the plush event, sent a representative with the 'gift' that was unveiled before 1 500 guests who attended the mainly female party.
"At least 1 500 people attended and the usual stuff that goes on at bridal parties was on display. Among the announcements made was the gift from Prophet Makandiwa, who sent someone with $10 000," one of the sources who attended the party said.
"There was ululation and Bona appreciated it, as did her mother (Grace). There were other gifts, of course, from other well-wishers."
Makandiwa's spokesperson Prime Kufa could neither confirm nor deny the UFIC leader had given away the 'gift'.
"I would not be surprised although I cannot expressly say he gave the gift. It is his nature because he has done that with Michael Mahendere whom he gave a car as well as a Gospel Power member. It had nothing to do with the church, it is his private life and I think it is not good for the church to go into his personal life," Kufa said.
Bona, the President's eldest child and only daughter, is going to wed a pilot by the name of Simba Chikore on March 1 at the first family's plush home in Borrowdale Brooke at a fabulous and opulent event where several revered dignitaries are expected to be in attendance.
A massive marquee tent has already been pitched at Mugabe's home in anticipation of the expected guest believed to number around 5 000, among them "most African Heads of State and leaders.
The Bridegroom's mother, Christene, according to sources, also attended the bridal party.
"Bona was seated between her mother and mother-in-law. There were also women from the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA) church, which is the groom's secular group," said the source.
A spokesperson for the Mugabe family, Kaitano Mugabe, Tuesday said the March 1 wedding day has not changed and preparations were progressing well.
"We have not changed anything thus far and everything is progressing well," he said.
The wedding is expected to rival that of the president's with Grace in August 1996. Bona (24) completed traditional marriage formalities with Chikore at the family's Zvimba rural home in August last year, with the Qatar Airways pilot said to have paid $35,000 in bride price.
