ENTERTAINMENT REPORTERThe Mashonaland Central talent expo auditions will be held tonight at Kimberly Reef Motel in Bindura, and organisers have revealed that preparations have reached ‘saturation point’.
The inaugural talent expo is a brainchild of Mvurwi-based arts promoter, Leonard Chidziwa, who runs Tione Chipo Chako Arts, an organisation whose patron is Oliver ‘Tuku’ Mtukudzi.
Chidziwa told The Zimbabwe Mail that they have already invited artistes from all genres to come for auditions tonight at Kimberly Reef Hotel in Bindura.
“All modalities have been done and we sent out an open invite to interested artistes from across Mash Central to come for auditions.
“Be it dance, music, theatre, poetry or any arts genre; we want to promote the talent that is in the province.
“It’s only a few who have breakthroughs at national level (and) that is why we came up with this platform to give them exposure,” said Chidziwa.
Entertainment will be provided by Carlos Green, Mafriq, Trevor Hall, Princo Spice and Soul Jah Love.
Chidziwa said the idea of holding an expo was borne out of the fact that his home province remains obscure yet it possesses immense talent.
“There is immense talent in Mashonaland Central but for obvious reasons, our talented artistes remain tucked in the back of beyond because of lack of exposure.
“We, therefore, decided to tap this talent through an expo with a view of selling our talent to the national platform.
“Several top musicians, including Tuku, hail from Mashonaland Central and we also urge these musicians to come back and assist the arts sector in the province.
“Freeman is also a product of this province, and we want to groom more Freemans (sic),” said Chidziwa.
The event starts at 1800 hours, till late into the night.
